TRI-COUNTY LONG TERM RECOVERY HOLDS HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE

WASHINGTON -- As rebuilding continues from last year's tornadoes, some children in Washington, Pekin and East Peoria may wonder if even Santa Claus can recognize their chimney.

No worries. Tri-County Long Term Recovery will help kick off the season with an Open House from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at its Washington Plaza office, Suite 18.

Toys, stuffed animals, bicycles and a Christmas tree festooned with ornaments donated in their honor will be available. LTR will provide hot chocolate, cider and cookies. A Brownie Troop from the Chicago area has sent hats for children, as well.

For those anticipating the holidays in new quarters -- and for those still awaiting the move -- this is one of the ways LTR wants to help make the transition to the new normal.

Overall, LTR has opened more than 1,000 cases, coordinating resources and information during the lengthy recovery. About a third of those cases remain open, and new needs are uncovered daily. If you or someone you know needs help from unpaid insurance deductibles to mental health counseling, LTR may be able to assist. To get help or to get more information about the open house, call LTR at (309) 696-6923.
